My Warm Table, translated into Italian is Tavola Calda. These were the words my Papa used to describe a table of good friends, good food and good conversation. I always aim to create a tavola calda in my life and I hope this podcast encourages you to do so too!
And so we've come to the end of another eclectic season of my Warm Table podcast, sharing 11 wonderful stories of the hope which quietly thrives within our Western Australian communities. I'd like to sincerely thank all of my generous Warm Table guests and a big thank you also to our Season 3 sponsor, kelly Riley, from Females Over 45 Fitness and the inspiring FOF women who shared their stories at the end of each episode about the strengths they're finding through fitness and friendship at the gym. Thank you especially to you, my warm table community of listeners, for supporting this passion podcast project. At its very essence, this podcast is about conversations around a warm table of acceptance, positivity and curiosity, and I think we've delivered that in spades this season. I know you've been uplifted this season. You've told me and you've learned more about everyday people like you and I making our communities kinder, safer, smarter, more accepting and inclusive Inclusion has been a big topic.
Speaker 1:Megan Hancock and Desley Delick of Lightbulb Skills spoke to us of their dream business, lightbulb Skills, which has become a reality in connecting young adults with disability in friendship and learning life skills. Kane Blackman, chief Executive Officer of Good Sammy, also shared his dream for people with disability to find meaningful employment and for a society which was transformed by this possibility. So much good work going on at Good Sammy. Carla Benitez looked at inclusion through the lens of multicultural diversity and the untapped talent of migrants wanting to make their new home, western Australia, an even better, smarter, brighter place by contributing their talents and experiences. Olga Hurina is one such woman, who fled Ukraine during the Russian invasion and has wholeheartedly immersed herself here by learning English, contributing to her community and finding hope despite the devastation of her homeland. Breathing life into devastated landscapes was a conversation we enjoyed with Anthony James, whose passion for regeneration has seen him traverse the country speaking with farmers around the possibility and power of regenerative agricultural practices. He's seen landscapes transformed and holds great hope for the future if we allow nature to take the lead.
Speaker 1:Getting in touch with nature was one remedy which renowned mental health therapist, nicola Hooper, recommended. As we discussed eating disorders and the plight of mental health in our community, especially among young people, dan Minchin, ceo of Chorus, reminded us of the impact of connection and reinventing social services so they can inspire community and reduce loneliness among our senior members of society. Tamala Bosveld also talked of community building through her involvement in creating Soul Runners, a family fun run event gaining popularity in Perth. Tamala is a mother marathon runner and massage therapist who specialises in therapeutic massage especially for those suffering with cancer. Finding hope through cancer may be a difficult quest, but our warm table conversation with my lifelong friend, lisa Holland, a three-time cancer survivor, left many of you speechless by her bravery, honesty and her resilience many of you speechless by her bravery, honesty and her resilience. Lisa reinvented herself through this experience and has come out filled with hope and an unstoppable zest for life.
Speaker 1:Thriving in a second spring was a fitting topic to explore around the warm table, and there was no one better than Lois K Smith to walk us through the power of reinvention and how our life experiences can catalyse careers which can be profound and match our passions in our 50s and beyond.
Speaker 1:Andrea Gibbs, a WA comedy acting and storytelling legend, reminded us of the power of laughter and the adrenaline of bare-faced storytelling, because in the end, it's actually stories that bind us, and they have certainly done so in this season of my Warm Table, with the added benefit of inspiring hope and amplifying the good which sits at the heart of our community. My Warm Table is my small contribution to add positivity and warmth to the media landscape in WA. I'm delighted to have three seasons with more than 50 episodes of inspiring Western Australians sharing their stories. Please continue to tap back into the back catalogue and share those episodes with your family and your friends Until we meet again. I encourage you to keep your own tables warm, keep them positive, accepting and keep them curious, and thank you for joining me and helping me create a true Davola Calda.
